Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania for Safari, Trekking & Beach

On arrival at the airport (Arusha/Kilimanjaro), you will be met by our driver holding your names on A4 paper. Introduce to you about our beautiful country. Then escort you to Arusha City in your chosen accommodation for evening rest to get ready for your next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Drive to Machame Gate, Hike to Machame Camp

You will drive you from Arusha to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. The journey will pass through the village of Machame, which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. After leaving the park gate, you will walk through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. Lower down, the trail can be muddy and slippery. Gaiters and trekking poles can be helpful. You will then continue hiking for a short distance until you reach Machame Camp.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

After having breakfast, you will leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the little valley and walking along a steep rocky ridge, covered with heather until the ridge ends. As you hike, you will turn the route to the west onto a river gorge. After that, you will rest, have dinner, and stay overnight at Shira Campsite.

Day 4: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

From the Shira Plateau, you will continue the journey to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As you hike, you will change your way to the southeast toward the Lava Tower, called the “shark’s tooth”.

Shortly after the tower, you will come to the second junction which will bring you up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 16,000 feet. You will then continue down to the Barranco Camp at an altitude of 13,000 feet. There, you will rest, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight. Although you end the day at around the same elevation as when you began, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for the summit day.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

After having breakfast, you will leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley Campsite. This is a short day meant for acclimatization.

  • Distance: 5 kilometers
  • Hiking time: 4 – 5 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

After having breakfast, you will leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. You will continue the journey up to the Barafu Camp. At this point, you will have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. There, you will make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo can be seen from this location.

Day 7:  Barafu camp to peak

Very early in the morning (midnight to 02:00), you will continue your way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You will head in the northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim.

Amazing 3-Week Tanzania Itinerary: This will be the most mentally and physically challenging for the Kilimanjaro Trekking Tours portion of the trek. At Stella Point (18,600 feet), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you will ever likely to see (weather permitting).

From the summit, you will then begin your descent by continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut Campsite and stopping at Barafu for lunch en route. You may want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest and mist or rain can be expected in the late afternoon. Later in the evening, you will enjoy your last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

After breakfast, you will continue with Kilimanjaro Trekking Tours descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will be helpful.

From the gate, you will continue walking for another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka Village to drive you back to your hotel in Arusha.

Day 9 & 10: Tarangire National Park

Amazing 3-Week Tanzania Itinerary: After breakfast, collect our picnic lunch boxes then we take a short pleasant morning drive to Tarangire National Park. Arrive at the gate our driver will do all the government procedures then proceed inside the park for a full day game drive in the park located slightly off the main safari route. Tarangire National Park is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania most famous for its elephant migration, and birding safari with a quiet atmosphere. Later in the evening, we drive to the lodge/hotel for evening leisure and overnight.

Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the Central Park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the Park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.

Day 14: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

You will be in Ngorongoro Crater late in the evening where the night will be spent on the crater rim.

Day 16: Lake Manyara to Lake Eyasi

After your breakfast, and then we drive to Lake Manyara National Park for your Tanzania Camping Safaris. This impressive National Park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the foot of the Great Rift Valley Western escarpment. The Park varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of Elephants; Manyara is famous for a Tree-climbing lion, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake.  Later, you will proceed back to Lake Eyasi in the evening. Enjoy en-route drive towards the home of Hadzabe and Datoga.

Day 17: Lake Eyasi –Airport (Kilimanjaro/Arusha)

Lake Eyasi is Located in the Great Rift Valley southwest of the Ngorongoro Crater. It is salt-water levels experience dramatic changes with the seasons. As early as 5 am our driver will be ready to escort you for your day adventure. Everyone will have their own, favorite cultural experience today. But perhaps your lasting memory will be of the Hadzabe hunter’s gatherers, their lifestyle will make you ponder how uncomplicated though not-easy life can be. We will first experience a hunting trip with the Hadzabe, the last hunter’s gatherers in Tanzania, before receiving a welcome from different tribes, the colorful Datoga people you will also a local blacksmith practicing his craft, fashioning pots and weapons from scrap metal. After an action-packed morning, we will drive to Kilimanjaro/Arusha to Zanzibar.Dinner and overnight at budget or luxury hotel. (full board basis)

Day 18: Stone Town City Tours

Morning at 09:00am have the Stone Town City Tour takes around the historical culture and architectural important town of Zanzibar with a century history. It includes a visit to former slave market site, now stands as Anglican church built in 1871, town market, visit the Zanzibar Memorial Museum, House of Wonder built in 1883 (Beit-Al-Ajab), Old Arab Fort, Palace Museum, Old Indian dispensary (Cultural Center) to Maruhubi Palace Ruins via Living Stone House. Dinner and overnight at budget or luxury hotel. (full board basis).

Day 19: Spice farm and Jozani Forest trip.

Today you go on an excursion to the spice and fruit plantations close to Stone town for the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in-depth information not only about spices but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description of their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics, and cooking. After the tour, we invite for an opulent lunch at our guides’ home, where you can taste the spices and fruits. After lunch, we take you to your beach resort.
On the way, you pass Jozani Forest, the last habitat of the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkey. With a local guide, you stroll through Jozani Chwaka National Park and look at the rare monkeys. If you wish you can even wander down the boardwalk to the fascinating Mangrove Ecosystem.

Day 20: Dolphin Trip.

Amazing 3-Week Tanzania Itinerary: One day you go on an excursion to Kizimkazi village, is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins, which can be a very rewarding experience. We are doing this trip in the afternoon to avoid the crowds of tourists in the morning, which in big numbers disturbing the dolphins.

Day 21: Departure day.

Depending on your flight schedule and departure point you will be transferred to the Zanzibar Airport to take a flight back home. If you are flying out of Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, we will arrange a connection flight for you to catch your flight back home.
