Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park is one of the most famous national parks in the world, known for its magnificent lions and the great migration. It is one of the most comprehensive and appealing presentations of nature, conservation, and research in general. Every day, hundreds of nature lovers and tourists from all over the world visit it.

The best time to see the Great Migration is during the dry season, between July and early October. It’s warm, weather is stable, and animals are abundant. The sparse vegetation and dried-up waterways force the animals to head up north to find food and drink.

Every year in East Africa, wildebeest along with zebra, gazelle and other animals, migrate in spectacular herds comprising millions of animals altogether across Kenya and Tanzania. This is known as the Great Migration. Duration of an ideal for this  safari can take between 4 to 10 days, to ensure you hit all the top spots on your great adventure safari.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Ngorongoro conservation area is among the world’s breathtaking natural wonders. With a breathtaking setting and one of the places to see the big five.  (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino). Huge herds of wildebeests and zebras traverse its plains during their annual migration. Livestock belonging to the semi-nomadic Maasai tribe graze alongside wild animals. Once a giant volcano, the Ngorongoro crater in northern Tanzania is the only unbroken volcanic caldera found in the whole world.

Day 0: Arrival Tanzania

Welcome to Tanzania! As your plane descends into the airport, your Great Migration Safaris adventure into the wilds of the country will finally begin. A representative will meet you in the arrivals hall of the airport, and together you will make a short drive to the hotel, just inside the city. Our safari manager will come to meet you and provide you with a safari briefing.

Day 1: Arusha to Northern Serengeti

Pick up early in the morning at the hotel around 7:00 a.m. and drive to the Northern Serengeti National Park for your Great Migration Safaris, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, you descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see.

Head to the Central Park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. You arrive in time for lunch at Nabi gate and enjoy an afternoon en-route game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight at the Lobo Campsite.

Day 2: Northern Serengeti game drive

After having breakfast, you will experience a game drive following the animal migration. You can see wildebeests, zebras, topi hartebeests, elands, antelopes, hyenas, and various birds singing in the trees while viewing the beautiful landscape and nature. Usually, in July, August, and the beginning of November, the migration reaches its northern range in which the herds cross the grasslands on either bank of the crocodile-infested Mara River twice, as they complete their migration. You will also be able to enjoy the sunset at Serengeti between 18:20 – 18:40 after the game drive before returning and staying overnight at Campsite.

Day 3: Northern Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After night relaxing, you will have a Great Migration Safaris game drive in the morning, together with breakfast followed by an early lunch, you will proceed to Ngorongoro. Today, you will be doing a game viewing en-route during your way from Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater. You will be in Ngorongoro Crater late in the evening where the night will be spent on the crater rim. Dinner and overnight will be at Ngorongoro Simba Campsite.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

After breakfast, you depart for the descend down the crater for a five-to-six-hour game drive. In the crater, you are able to view the Big Five. See buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and many more species, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Great Rift Wall. After the game drive in Ngorongoro crater, our driver will take you back to Arusha overnight at the hotel booked for you.

4 day Great Migration Safari.

Gabriel (the owner) and Emmanuel (our guide) really took care of us on this trip. We did an amazing 4 day Safari to the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater.

It was a private tour that was super competitive on price with any of the other companies we looked at.
I appreciated getting to know Emmanuel over that 4 days, and our cook Masawi, though he spoke limited English. All and all it was an absolutely amazing experience.

We were able to view an unforgettable wildebeest river crossing at the Mara river on day 2, and we focused on searching out big cats on day 3, and we were extremely successful thanks to Emmanuel’s knowledge of the area! Masawi’s meals every night were delicious, and there was always way more than enough to eat.

These guys were awesome and this trip was awesome. Definitely a great choice for a Safari!
