The Datoga and Mbulu people are pastoralists, like the Masai people.

9 Days Experience Tanzania Safari and Culture Itinerary

Days 1: Arrival in Tanzania

You will be met at the Airport of Kilimanjaro by your Driver / Guide and our representative. We will take you to the Serena lodge situated outside of Arusha Town at the slopes of majestic Mount Meru. Our safari manager will come to meet you and to provide you with a safari briefing. at  ilboru lodge for overnight.

Day 2 Tarangire National Park

After breakfast depart for Tarangire National Park. Enjoy a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire has a diverse landscape, with nine vegetation zones. Ancient baobab trees (the largest trees in Africa) dot the landscape dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River, which meanders through the park attracts an abundance of wildlife, from elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes to a variety of colorful birds. The park is very famous for having the greatest elephant population in Tanzania. During a safari here you will have the chance to quietly observe many families of elephants interacting. With a stop for a picnic lunch in an observatory inside the park where you will be able to view animals drinking water in the river (and many times lions attacking a thirsty zebra or wildebeest), continue game viewing and finally return to Lodge  for dinner and overnight.

Day 3  Lake Manyara National Park

Depart after breakfast and drive across the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park for a full-day game drive. Although it’s only 205 sq miles in size, this enchanting park is noted for its beauty and incredibly lush acacia forest of giant fig and mahogany trees, which are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. Well known for its birds (over 400 different species), Lake Manyara is one of the few places where you’ll be able to see the ground hornbill and the crested eagle. This park has become famous for the climbing lions and the flamingos on the lakeshore. The landscapes of this park are absolutely stunning, very different from the Serengeti for example. The game drives are done along the shore of the lake, providing incredible views of giraffes and buffalos in the foreground with the lake, flamingos and flat plains on the horizon. Great photo opportunities! In the afternoon, you’ll return to the Kitela Lodge  for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park

Today you’re off to the famous Serengeti National Park, home to the great wild and stunning land scape. Your drive today is spectacular as you drive up the crater highlands, stopping at the rim for a birds-eye view of the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Continuing on, as you crest the hillside spread out before you, as far as the eyes can see, is the vast Serengeti. You will have 2hrs late evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at Kati Kati tented Camp or similar. Kubu kubu Tented Lodge.

Day 5  Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you’ll have a full day in the Serengeti National Park(morning and afternoon game drives).

Serengeti means “endless plains” in Kiswahili and this 6,900 sq mile (18,000 sq km) park is inhabited by more than 2 million large animals. This includes more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles. Large predators including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are drawn to the area by this abundance of prey that migrates throughout the park. Many smaller animals like rock hyrax, bat-eared foxes, mongoose, honey badger, jackals, monkeys, baboons and African hares also inhabit the area along with nearly 500 species of birds. Dinner and overnight at Kati Kati tented Camp or similar. Kubu kubu Tented Lodge.

Day 6 Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will wake up very early to do an early morning safari before breakfast. This is to spot the animals when they are more active and also to have a fantastic sunrise in front of you. After the game drive, return to the camp for brunch. In the afternoon, transfer to Ngorongoro, the 8th Natural Wonder of the World. With walls 2,000 ft high and a crater floor that spreads for 102 sq miles, the crater is a virtual Noah’s Ark. It’s inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wildlife on the planet. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusks, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. They are the most incredible elephants you’ll ever see in your life.

You’ll arrive in Ngorongoro in the late evening dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena lodge or Rhino lodge

Day 7 Ngorongoro Crater  to Lake Eyasi

Very early in the morning, descend down to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing in one of the most incredible places on earth. After a stop for a picnic lunch near the Hippo Lake, and more wildlife viewing in the afternoon, drive up the steep road out of the crater and transfer to Lake Eyasi. You’ll have an overnight stay at a tented lodge. We recommend, Tindiga Tented Camp (mid-range) or Kisima Ngeda (Luxury).

Day 8 Hadzabe + Datoga Tribe and Lake Eyasi

Very early in the morning, before breakfast, join the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last true nomadic tribes of Africa, in a fascinating hunting or fruit-gathering session. This is something absolutely unique and out of the beaten track. It gives you a great and authentic cultural experience while providing incredible opportunities for world-class photography. After staying a while with the tribe, visit the beautiful Lake Eyasi. It is a seasonal shallow salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley at the base of the Serengeti Plateau. In the afternoon, you will return to Arusha. Overnight at ilboru lodge

Day 10:  Transport in Arusha – Kilimanjaro airport

After breakfast we will pick you up at the lodge and transfer you to Airport.  Our pick up drop will be at lodge on time for picking you up and driving you directly to Kilimanjaro /Arusha airport. This will be the end of tour and safari with us.
